Experiment Name: Retrieval and Recovery of Global Files of IBM Storage Protect Plus

Experiment Content:
IBM Storage Protect Plus is a solution that can be used for data protection of VM environments (e.g. VMware and Hyper-V), and enables the data protection and availability for virtual and physical machines of database like Oracle and SQL Server. This experiment will guide you to implement global retrieval and fast file-level restore with IBM Storage Protect Plus. (duration: 10-15mns)

Experiment Resources:
IBM Storage Protect Plus 10.1.1 software
VMware vSphere 5.5 and VMware vCenter Server 5.5
- Windows Server 2008 R2 (VMs)

Retrieval and Recovery of Global Files of IBM Storage Protect Plus

  1. Log on to the management interface of SPP

    Open Firefox browser,click the Login In to enter the management interface of SPP.

  2. Search for files to be recovered

    2.1 OpenManagement and Protection> File Reset on the left navigation bar in turn,
    2.2 Enter the file name doc00* to be recovered below the file search, and clickon the right,

    2.3 Search for files to be recovered in search results, e.g. Doc006.txt, and click to select a snapshot time point

  3. Set the location of file recovery

    3.1 Select under Options in turn
    Select restore the file to an alternate location,
    Select 192.168.0.10 > 02_Win2k8R2_01 ,
    3.2 In the Destination Folder, enter C:\Restored (Note: C: is followed by a backslash)
    Then, click restore

  4. Execute recovery file

    After the pop-up prompts that the job of creating recovery is successful, click Yes to start the file recovery, 
    and the progress of the recovery can be seen in the job session after a while.
    After about 5 minutes, when the state changes from RUNNING to COMPLETED, the recovery is completed.

  5. View recovered files

    After minimizing the Firefox browser in the experiment, double-click the desktop to execute (icon name: 02_Win2k8R2_01), and log on to this virtual machine.
    Just a moment after login, open it on the virtual desk (icon name: Restored),
    and you can see the file recovered (such as: Doc006.txt)
